Concept: 1 Mark
Application: 1.5 Marks
Answer: 0.5 Mark each
The number of Rs50 notes and Rs100 notes be 3x and 2x, respectively.
But he has 40 notes in total.
Therefore, the number of Rs 10 notes
=40–(2x+3x)=40–5x
The amount he has
From 100 notes: 2x×100=200x
From 50 notes: 3x×50=150x
From 10 notes: (40–5x)×10=(400–50x)
Hence the total money he has
=200x+150x+(400–50x)=(300x+400)
But he has Rs1000. Therefore, 300x+400=1000
300x=1000–400=600
x=2
The number of Rs50 notes he has =3x=3×2=6
The number of Rs100 notes she has =2x=2×2=4
The number of Rs10 notes she has =40–5x
=40–(5×2)=40–10=30
