Blood clotting or coagulation is the method in which bleeding is controlled when a blood vessel is wounded. Proteins or blood clotting factors are involved in this phase. Normally, a complicated method uses these coagulating factors to cause a fibrin clot that prevents bleeding. Hemostasis is the manner in which the body stops bleeding from wounded blood vessels. Hemostasis involves blood clotting. Hemostasis includes three main procedures:

1. Blood vessel narrowing (constriction)

2. Activity of cell-like blood particles helping in blood clotting (platelets)

3. Activity of blood proteins working with platelets to assist blood clot (clotting factors) like fibrinogen
