Solution
The correct option is A Increase with rise in temperature The increase in temperature increases the rate of respiration within certain limits. Thus with temperatures in excess of 33 degrees, the process of respiration which was initially intense soon begins to decrease and after few hours becomes weaker. Temperature above 20 degrees changes protoplasm and results in the decrease in respiration. This may be due to the fact that oxygen becomes limiting to the cells at high temperature because of its reduced solubility and diffusion, carbon dioxide may accumulate in the cells and supply of oxidisable food may be insufficient to maintain high rates of respiration.
Thus, the correct answer is 'Increase with rise in temperature' .
