Question

Ratio between ages of A and B is 3 : 4 and ratio between ages of A and C is 4 : 5. If age of B is 3 years more than that of C then find sum of their ages .

Ratio between ages of A and B=3:4
Let constant here be x
Then , age of A=3x and age of B=4x

Ratio between ages of A and C=4:5
Let constant here be y
Then , age of A=4y and age of C=5y

Then According to question,
4x=5y+3 ..................1
Also, 3x=4y .................2

Solving eq. 1 and 2 we get ,
x=12 and y=9
Hence age of A=36 years,age of B=48 years and age of C=45 years
Then sum of ages of B and C=48+45=93years
