Ravi conducted an experiment, he added dil.hydrochloric acid to zinc granules in a conical flask. Zinc chloride was formed and hydrogen was liberated. He represented the reaction in the following manner.
Zn+HCl−H2→ZnCl2
Is the reaction represented properly?
False
The representation is wrong. In the chemical reaction the reactants are written on left side of the reaction separated by (+) sign. Similarly, products are written on right side of the reaction separated by (+) sign. The arrowhead points towards products, and shows the direction of the reaction.
So the correct representation for the reaction would be:
Zn+HCl→ZnCl2+H2
