Question

Ravi visited a blood donation camp in a village. In spite of a syringe being available in the camp, he purchased a new syringe from a chemist. There he saw the doctor sterilising the syringe before it is being administered to other people. In the camp, he also came to know that he is a universal donor.

Solution

  1. Many diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis can spread through contaminated needles and syringes.
  2. The best way to avoid HIV and other infections is by using a new (sterile) needle and a new syringe for every injection or to sterilise the instruments before using them again.
  3. We should never share needles, syringes, or cotton with anyone.

For the reasons mentioned above, the doctor sterilised the syringe.
