Arthritis is a locomotory disorder caused due to wearing away of articulating cartilage which damages the bones by increasing friction between the bones. It usually results in inflammation of joints.


Hence, the given assertion- “Inflammation of joints is called arthritis” is correct.

Osteoporosis is a bone disease which results in loss of bone mass increasing the chances of fracture. This disorder is an age related disorder. It is caused when the body loses too much bone or produces too less bone or both. Decrease in bone mass increase the chances of fracture in the affected person.
Hence, the given reason- “In osteoporosis, bone mass decreases and chances of fracture increases” is correct but is not the right explanation of given assertion.
