Solution

Elaboration:

Lysosome is a single membrane-bound organelle that is rich in hydrolytic enzymes (hydrolases like carbohydrases, proteases, lipases etc.) present in eukaryotic cell. Therefore, they can digest the major molecules and can destroy foreign particle.

Phagosomes are formed by the cell when the foreign particle is engulfed. This phagosome fuses with lysosome and give rise to phagolysosome or heterophagolysosome.
Hence assertion and reason are correct and reason is the correct explanation for the assertion.

Final answer: (A) If both assertion and reasons are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.
