As gravity of the Moon is very less then the Earth ($\frac{1}{6}$th of the Earth), so escape velocity of the Moon is much less when compared to the escape velocity of the Earth, so gases in the atmosphere is completely escaped from the Moon. And gravity depends on mass of planet, not its volume.
