Inflorescence

Inflorescence is an arrangement of clusters of flowers on a floral axis or peduncle. It is of different types based on the arrangement of flowers on a main sxis (peduncle) and by the timing of its flowering (determinate and indeterminate).

Poinsettia - Cyanthium

A cyathium is a special type of inflorescence, where the involucre forms a cup-shaped receptacle. The receptacle bears a single central pedicellate naked female flower which is surrounded by a number of naked pedicellate naked male flowers. This type of inflorescence is seen in Poinsettia.

Salvia - Verticillaster

In verticillaster, the inflorescence consists of two flower clusters each containing 3-9 flowers, which develop on a node in axils of opposite leaves. Salvia shows verticillaster inflorescence.
