Solution

The correct option is A Two
  • Endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi body are a part of the endomembranous system.
  • The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a long thread-like organelle which is spread throughout the cell connecting with every organelle. The ER divides the cell into two parts the area inside the ER and the area out the ER; Luminal and extraluminal.
  • Both the type of ER ie SER (smooth endoplasmic reticulum) and RER (rough endoplasmic reticulum) are connected to the outer membrane of the nucleus from where they can transport proteins and lipids back and through.
  • Another endomembrane organelle is a Golgi apparatus which is related to the function of packing and transport. It is connected with the ER and receives materials from the ER and packs them into vesicle to be released where ever they are needed.
  • Golgi apparatus is made up of compartments known as cisternae with cis and trans faces where cis is the one facing towards the ER which receives the materials from the ER whereas trans is the compartment that faces away from the ER which releases the material from the Golgi apparatus. 8-10 Compartments in the Golgi apparatus can be present while some cells have been seen to up to upto 60 compartments.
  • Golgi apparatus is always attached with the ER to receive and transport materials.
  • Therefore only 2 statements ie (I) and (ii) are correct.
  • Therefore the answer option A is correct.
