Lymphocytes are a group of white blood cells in the immune system. Depending on the origin and development of lymphocytes, they are of two types ; T-lymphocytes and B-Lymphocytes.

The B-cells derived its letter designation from its site of maturation that is the bursa of Fabricius in birds. They mature in bone marrow in mammals. T- lymphocytes (T cells) derived its name from the thymus where it matures. Hence statement 2 is correct.

B-cells are associated with antibody-mediated immunity and T-cells are associated with cell-mediated immunity.

B-cells are capable of binding to soluble antigens while T-cells require antigen-presenting cells to display the antigens. Antigen presenting cells will process and present antigens for recognition by T-cells. Hence statement 1 is correct.
