• Selecting the progeny with superior characters.

• Repeating the process for 4-6 generations.

Animal breeding is of the following types :

1. Inbreeding - This involves mating of closely related individuals of the same breed.

2. Out-breeding - This involves mating unrelated individuals of either the same breed, two different breeds of the same species or two different species. It is of three types-Out-crossing, Cross-breeding and Interspecific hybridisation.
