Solution

The correct option is D One
  • (A) Stele of the root or stem is the part of the tissue that is present inside the endodermis of the tissue, it constitutes of endodermis, pericycle, vascular bundle and the ground tissue.
  • (B) The monocot stem differs from the dicot stem in many ways and one of it is the arrangement of vascular bundle in the monocot stem. The xylem and phloem is present in and closed arrangement without the present of the cambium and also they are no arranged in any kind of arrangement rather are dispersed in the ground tissue of the organ.
  • The bundle that are present towards the periphery of the stem are smaller compared to the bundle that are present in the center of the tissue.
  • (C) In secondary growth of the plant the cambium ring starts to divide and add xylem elements to the outside of the ring i.e. towards the periphery and phloem to the inside of the ring. In late wood the growth is slow compared to the spring wood here the deposition of the xylem elements outside the ring is there though slow but the deposition of phloem is very slow.
  • (D) The cork is the outer most layer of the stem that is produced by the cracks that are produced due the increase in girth during the secondary growth. The cells of the cork are deposited with suberin which is water resistant element and does not allow the entry of the water in the cork.
  • Therefore the answer option D is correct.
