Solution

The correct option is B A - T, B - T, C - F and D - F
Competition is a type of population interaction, in which the fitness of one species is significantly lower in the presence of another species. Competition benefits the organisms which are more suitably adapted to that environment (competitively superior species), while the other organisms (competitively superior species) is at greater disadvantage. Hence, statement A is true.

The Abingdon tortoise in the Galapagos island became extinct as a result of goats being introduced on the island. As the goats had a more efficiently grazing ability than the Abingdon tortoise, the tortoise were not able to survive in the habitat. So statements B is true.

Competition is of two types viz. intraspecific competition and interspecific competition.
Competition between individuals of different species is called the interspecific competition. For example, goats and cows competing for grass in the same area.
Competition between individuals of the same species is called the intraspecific competition. For example, deers in an area competing for the same food source (plants and plant products). So statement D is false.

In interference competition, the competition between organisms is direct i.e an organism physically prohibits the other organism from using a resource. It can occur within the same species or between different species. For example, the alpha male silverback gorilla fights off any other males that want to mate with the females in the troup. This is also an example of an intraspecific competition. Hence statement C is false.
