Artificial insemination in animals is the process of transferring semen from a selected male parent with desirable characterisitcs to the reproductive tract of selected female parent. This is done as the semen from one male parent can be used to inseminate multiple females.

Semen collected can be used immediately or can be frozen and used later. It can also be transported under suitable conditions to a place where the female parent is kept. Hence statement I is false.

Artificial insemination increases the rate of fertilisation. It is helpful to inseminate the females that refuse to accept the male at the time of the oestrus period (the time when a female is sexually active and is ovulating). Therefore, it helps in overcoming mating problems. So statement II is true.
