Solution

The correct option is A a and b

Among the given options, following are the incorrect statements:

Statement a-
Kidney plays very significant role in the removal of NH3.

Elaboration-

Kidneys are the excretory structures present in higher organisms like vertebrates. Kidney filters the blood and removes the nitrogenous wastes. Ammonia being very toxic requires a lot of water for its excretion.

To avoid this, the vertebrates have developed a strategy of converting the ammonia into a less toxic form called urea. This conversion takes place in the liver after which the urea is transported to kidneys via blood and can then be excreted in the form of urine. It directly doesn’t remove ammonia.

Statement b- Terrestrial adaptation necessitated the production of more toxic nitrogenous wastes like urea and uric acid for conservation of water.

Elaboration-

The water available to terrestrial organisms is comparatively lesser, hence they need to convert ammonia to a less toxic substance, which requires less water for elimination. Ammonia gets converted to less toxic forms like urea to uric acid.
