Two arteries receive blood from the ventricles and their semilunar valves permit blood to be forced into the arteries and prevent backflow from the arteries into the ventricles. These valves do not have chordae tendineae, and are more similar to the valves in veins than they are to the atrioventricular valves. Functionally, the chordae tendineae play a vital role in holding the atrioventricular valves in place while the heart is pumping blood. The first heart sound is caused by the closure of the atrioventricular valves, i.e. tricuspid and mitral (bicuspid), at the beginning of ventricular contraction, or systole.
So, t eh correct answer is 'Only statement B is correct'.
