Cell membrane

Plasma membrane or cell membrane is the outer covering of all the cells and made up of phospholipid bilayer structure with embedded proteins. The plasma membrane is semi-permeable or half permeable because it allows free passage of water molecules and regulates the passage of solute molecules. As It allows only selected solute particles to pass through the plasma membrane is also called as selectively permeable or differentially permeable. It differentiates between various solute particles and allows only selected solute particles to enter or leave the cell.
