Solution

The correct option is A Bharat Stage IV norms have been implemented throughout the country for 2, 3 and 4 wheelers since April 2017
Mass Emission Standards (Bharat Stage Emission Standards) are limits laid down by the Government of India in order to regulate the output of air pollutants (substances that can bring about undesirable changes in the characteristics of air) from motor vehicles.

The Government of India uses the Euro norms (permissible vehicular emission norms implemented in Europe) as reference for fuel quality and the method of testing.

Bharat Stage IV norms were introduced in India from April 2017, for 2, 3 and 4 wheelers. As per this norm sulphur content was reduced to 50 ppm (the mass of a chemical or contaminate per unit volume) in both petrol and diesel and aromatic hydrocarbons was brought down to a level of 35 percent. Hence option a is correct and options c and d are incorrect.

Bharat Stage II Emission Standards are equivalent to Euro-II norms. It was introduced for 2 and 4 wheelers in 2005 and is currently not applicable in any cities of India. Hence option b is incorrect.
