The reproductive cycle, in female primates, called the menstrual cycle, comprises 28 days in a healthy female. Primata is the order to which monkeys, apes and human beings belong. The duration of the menstrual cycle varies in different females as it is dependent upon a number of factors. However, the average duration amounts to around 28 days.

Hormone A is progesterone. It is secreted by the corpus luteum and is responsible for the proliferation and maintenance of the uterine endometrium (inner lining). Hence option a is correct.

Hormone B is estrogen. It is secreted by the cells of the developing follicle and it has several functions including development of secondary sexual characters (mammary gland development) in females. Estrogen does not influence rupturing of the Graafian follicle.

Hormone C is the luteinizing hormone or LH, it is produced by the anterior pituitary gland and its excess amount (LH Surge) causes ovulation.

Hormone D is the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). It is produced by the anterior pituitary gland and helps in the development of follicles.
