Liquified petroleum gas (LPG) is a mixture of mostly propane, mostly butane or both. Both these gases, propane and butane gas can be separated from uncondensed gases obtained from the natural gas stream. They can also be obtained from the thermal cracking (breakdown into smaller components) of larger hydrocarbons like heptane (compounds containing a carbon chain with more than 7 carbons). Thus, both the statements are correct.
