Solution

The correct option is A Both the statements are true
Sterilisation or surgical methods are used in both male and females. The surgical method blocks the transport of gametes and prevents contraception. Tubectomy or tubal ligation is the applied surgical method in females.
The ovary releases an egg every month during ovulation. The ovum travels down the fallopian tube to the uterus. In tubal ligation or tubectomy, the movement of the ovum down this path is blocked. Once blocked it restricts sperms as well to reach the egg for fertilisation.
Tubectomy or tubal-ligation is a safe medical procedure. In the process of this surgery, a small portion of the fallopian tube is removed and tied up through a small incision in the abdomen. Laparoscopy and mini-laparotomy are the two main incision methods used to cut the fallopian tube. There is another non-incisional way in which a ring or insert is placed inside the fallopian tube through the vagina. Gradually, over time body tissues grows over the ring and block the fallopian tube.
