Solution

Step 1: Solution:

Finding what each person wished for:

From the given data we can see that:

  1. Father wished for 93 gold vase.
  2. Mother wished for 65 jars of honey.
  3. Sister wished for 2+43 new books to read.
  4. Nisha wished for 5×103 chocolates.

Step2: Solving each expression:

  1. Father wished for =93 gold vase=9×9×9=729 gold vases.
  2. Mother wished for =65 jars of honey =6×6×6×6×6=7776 jars of honey.
  3. Sister wished for =2+43 new books to read=2+4×4×4=2+64=66 new books to read.
  4. Nisha wished for =5×103 chocolates =5×1000=5000 chocolates.

Total items received by the family:

=sum of all items received by each member of family

=729(goldvases)+7776(jarsofhoney)+66(newbookstoread)+5000(chocolates)=13,571

Total items received by the family is 13,571

Step3: If I were Nisha, I would have wished for: 2×103 comics to read.
