Rearrange 4x - 2y + 8 = 0 in the form y = mx + c, and determine the Y intercept of the line. Does this line pass through (1,6). [3 MARKS]

4x – 2y + 8 = 0

2y = 4x + 8

y = 2x + 4 ......(i)

The Y intercept is 4 [by putting x=0 in above equation(i)]

Putting (1,6) in the equation: 4 x 1 - 2 x 6 + 8 = 0
Or, 4 - 12 + 8 = 0
Or, 0 = 0
Since, the equation is satisfied, the point (1,6) lies on the line.
