Solution

Find the fabric yards does Rebecca need to make a quilt:

Given that, the total number of yards that is required 1012.

One piece of fabric is 212 yards and another piece of fabric is 414.

Step 1. Calculate the yards that are required:

Consider x as the yard that is required:

212+414+x=101252+174+x=1012

To write 52 as a fraction with a common denominator, multiply by 22:
52·22+174+x=1012
Write each expression with a common denominator of 4:
5·24+174+x=1012
Combine the numerators over the common denominator.
5·2+174+x=1012274+x=1012274+x=212

Step 2. Move all the terms not containing x to one side.

x=212-274

To write 212 as a fraction with a common denominator, multiply by22.

x=21222-274x=21.24-274x=424-274x=154154=3+34x=334

Hence, Rebecca needs 334 yards more to make a quilt.
