Red Soil:

  1. Red Soil is also known as Omnibus soil.
  2. The presence of ferric oxide gives a red color to this soil.

  4. Wheat, pulses, tobacco, oilseeds, potatoes, etc. are the major crops cultivated in red soil.

Physical properties of red soil:

  1. Red soil has a high percentage of iron oxide and is porous in nature.
  2. pH value scales from 6.6 to 8.0.
  3. It has a lesser concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and organic matter.
  4. It does not respond to fertilizers and is infertile.
