Reema read 15th pages of a book. If she reads further 40 pages, she would have read 710th pages of the book. How many pages are left to be read?

Step-1 Finding total number of pages:

Reema read 15th pages of a book.

Let us assume the total number of pages in the book beT.

Then, the number of pages read by Reema =15thofT=(15)×T

And also it is given in the question, If she reads further 40 pages, she would have read 710thpages of the book. =(710)×T

So, according to the question

15×T+40=710×TT5+40=7T10T+2005=7T10

By cross multiplication we get,

10T+2000=35T

2000=35T-10T

2000=25T

T=200025

T=80

Step-2 Finding number of pages left to read

Then, pages left to be read by Reemu = Total pages – pages read

=T7T10=10T-7T10=3T10=3×8010(PuttingthevalueofT=80)=24

Therefore,24 pages are left to be read.
