Prophase is the first phase where the chromosome appear like a ball of wool and there is no distinct formation or condensation of chromosomes.
Anaphase is the stage in which the chromosome appear on two separate poles and splitting of centromeres of chromosome takes place.
Metaphase is the stage in which all chromosome form a single plate. On this equatorial plate, chromosome appears two threaded.
In the telophase which is the last stage, the daughter nuclei are formed and the nuclear envelope, endoplasmic reticulum and all the organelles start forming. This is the phase which paves way for the cytokinesis.
