Number of elephants in both reserves in 2002 = 42 + 28 = 70
Number of African elephants = $\frac{70\times 40}{100}=28$

Number of elephants in both reserves in 2004 = 44 + 56 = 100
Number of African elephants $\Rightarrow 65\%$ of 100 = 65

$\therefore$ Required difference = 65 – 28 = 37
