Glands present outside the alimentary canal, such as liver, pancreas etc are extrinsic glands. But they do not aid in intracellular digestion. Intracellular digestion is a type of digestion that takes place inside a cell, this usually happens only in lower forms of organisms, unicellular protists like the amoeba, paramecium etc. Humans, however, have complete and extracellular digestive systems, where the digestion takes place in a body canal called the alimentary canal, and only the digested and assimilated nutrients enter inside human cells.
