Removal of proximal convoluted tubule from the nephron will result in:
Nearly 99% of the glomerular filtrate is reabsorbed into the blood. This process takes place in the PCT, with the PCT being responsible for nearly 65% of reabsorption. If reabsorption of essential materials from the filtrate does not take place, then the filtrate will be a lot more concentrated and in effect the urine will be more concentrated. Therefore the answer is ‘more concentrated urine’. However loss of PCT from the nephron will have a more drastic effect on the body fluids and blood, because blood will lose most of its dissolved components and become severely dilute, disrupting the osmotic balance of the body.
