Take OA = 3 units and AB ⊥ OA, such that AB = 1 unit.
Join OB.
Now,
OB = OA2+ AB2 = 32 + 12 = 10 units
Taking O as the centre and OB as the radius, draw an arc, meeting OX at P.
We have:
OP = OB = 10 units
Thus, point P represents 10 on the number line.
