b. Hybridization of selected parent plant with superior traits.
c. Selection and evaluation of hybrids with traits for disease resistance.
d. Releasing the new varieties into the market.
Two examples for virus resistant plants are-
1. Transgenic tobacco plants expressing a TMV CP gene are resistant to Tobacco Mosaic Virus.
2. Potato mosaic virus (PMV) strain N605 provides resistance in transgenic potato plants.
