Solution

The correct option is D Both (A) and (C)
The resolving power of a microscope is,

RP=2μsinθ1.22λ

Where,

μ=Refractive index of medium between object and objective lensθ=Angular resolution (in radians)λ= Wavelength of the light

RPμ and RP1λ

Since, we know that red light has higher wavelength as compare to blue. Thus, blue light will increase the value of RP.

Since value of μ increases due to oil, so RP will increase.

Why this question?

Key concept : Resolving power of a microscope is inversely proportional to the wavelength of light used.
