Resonance, as per the definition, is the delocalisation of loosely boned electrons i.e.π electrons (double and triple bond electrons as well).

The answer for the question is just a hypothetical approach to satisfy the stability of the compound!!

“ As the resonance hybrid is the most stable structure among all the structures and each canonical one is unstable structure. The reason behind instability of canonical structure is the dis-balanced chemical bonds or π bonds and dis- continuous charge distribution i.e.+ve and -ve charges or incomplete octet”.

Further more the stability is inversely proportional to the energy.

Hence the resonance hybrid has less energy than canonical structure.
