Question

RESPECTED EXPERTS,
If current is the flow of electrons and electrons flow from negative terminal to positive terminal, then why the flow of current conventionally is from + ve to - ve?

Solution

Electric current is detected due to the motion of electrons. The direction of flow of electrons gives you the direction of electric current. The electrons flow from the negative terminal to the positive terminal due to a potential difference between the terminals of a cell. The direction of current is conventionally taken to be from positive to negative as it was earlier thought that the current flows due to the movement of positive charges.
