Respiration is exothermic. Why??

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Respiration is an exothermic process which involves the oxidation of glucose to release a large amount of heat energy. It can be represented by the equation:
C6H12O6(aq)+6O2(g)→6CO2(g)+6H2O(l)+Energy
We also know that a reaction in which heat is released along with the process of formation of products is called as an exothermic reaction.

Thus, from the above-mentioned points, it can be said that respiration is an exothermic process.
