Reversible work of expansion is maximum work. Explain

The work done during expansion process is given by

W = pdv

in case of reversible process there are no losses so

W = pdv

In case of irreversible process losses exist so,

W = pdv - losses

so work done in expansion process will be maximum for a reversible process.
