Solution

The correct sequence according to the processes in the small intestine and large intestine is:
Absorption of digested nutrients by villi → undigested food passed into the large intestine → water absorbed → formation of faeces → and egestion

1. The absorption of digested nutrients occurs in small intestine through the villi.
2. Villi are tiny projections in the inner side of small intestine.
3. Their main function is to increase the surface area of small intestine for the better absorption of nutrients.
4. The undigested food is then passed to large intestine.
5. Water is absorbed from the undigested food in large intestine and is turned into faeces.
6. Faeces are the absolutely undigested food that consists of dead cells, fibres and bile pigments.
7. Lastly, faeces are expelled out of the body through the anus and this process is termed egestion.
