The correct option is D was standing, was waiting, saw, waved, was saying, were making
Option C is the correct answer because the statement is in simple past tense, which is clear because the statement is indirect speech. As “was standing” is in simple past tense, hence all the others are also correct, and as he is describing an event in the past, it is correct to use simple past.
Option A is incorrect because “stood” that means he stood only in the past, but according to the speaker, he wasn’t standing and waiting. It would be correct if all the options were like.. “Such it stood across the road and waited for me”.
Option B is incorrect because only Such it was standing, “was” is past tense of “is”, and “were” is past of “are”, we’re is used for more than one person.
Option D is incorrect because “had stood” is past perfect tense which means he was standing and is standing with respect to the past, which is incorrect
