Question

Rhombus of a side of 10 cm has two angles of 60 each.
Find a if the area a3 cm2

In given figure ABCD is a rhombus.
AC and BD are diagonals of rhombus.
AD = CD = CB = BA = 10cm --- (Given)
ADC =60 -- (given)
ADO = 30 --- (Diagonals of rhombus bisect angle equally.)
AOD = 90 ---- (Diagonals of rhombus perpendicularly bisect each other)
In AOD
sin30 = AOAD
12 = AO10
AO = 5cm.
Diagonal AC = 2×AO = 10cm. -- (1)
Now,
cos30 = ODAD
32 = OD10
OD = 53cm
Diagonal BD = 2×OD = 103cm ---- (2)
Area of rhombus ABCD = AC×BD2
From (1) and (2) we get,
10×1032 = 503cm2
Area of rhombus ABCD is 503cm2.
So a must be 50
