Question

Right additive inverse of-1/2and3/4 and also write multiplicative inverse of the sum

Open in App
Solution

additive inverse of a number means ,its a number sucha that when it added to that number it become zero.
here the additive inverse of -1/2 is 1/2
because -1/2+1/2= 0
now the additive inverse of 3/4 is -3/4
because 3/4+ -3/4 =0
additive inverse of a number is negative of its own number .
multiplicative inverse of a number is the number in which multiply with that number become 1
ie, x*y =1
then y is called the inverse of x
here we want to find the multiplicative inverse of product of -1/2 *3/4
ie, -3/8
by property -3/8 * y =1
therefore y = 1/(-3/8)
= -8/3
the multiplicative inverse is -8/3
