Question

Right ventricular wall is thinner than the left ventricular wall. Why?

Open in App
Solution

  • Right ventricular wall is thinner than the left ventricular wall because the left ventricle needs to pump blood to different parts of the body.
  • Therefore, high pressure is applied by the wall of the left ventricle, which requires strength.
  • Whereas, the right ventricle pumps blood only to the lungs for oxygenation, which is very close to the heart, therefore less pressure is required.
  • Thus, the wall of the right ventricle is thinner.
