From the image above, we can see that 5 matchsticks are required to make 2 and 6 matchsticks are needed to make 6.
So if the number of two's is taken as 'a' and the number of six's is taken as 'b'
Then the number of matchsticks required to make two's =5×a=5a
The number of matchsticks needed to make the six's =6×b=6b
Total number of matchsticks =5a+6b
In the number 226626, there are 3 two's and 3 six's.
Hence, a = 3 and b = 3.

Therefore, the total number of match sticks required =5a+6b=(5×3)+(6×3)
=15+18=33
