Solution

Step 1: Given data:

  1. The average speed is 6 km/h.
  2. Time taken is 20 minutes

Step 2: Average speed:

Averagespeed=TotaldistancecoveredTotaltimetakenTotaldistancecovered=Averagespeed×Totaltimetaken

Average speed = 6km/hr

Time taken =20min=2060hr

Step 3: Finding total distance covered:

Totaldistancecovered=Averagespeed×Totaltimetaken=6×2060=2km

Hence, the distance between their house and school is 2 km.
