Rohan attends a test with multiple choice questions with no negative marking. There were fifty questions and each question had four marks for answering right. What is the sample space of marks that Rohan could score?
{0, 4, 8, 12, ..... 200}
Sample space is defined as the set of all possible outcomes. So we just have to decide what the possible outcomes are. Since there is no negative score for wrong attempt, he will get zero if he gets zero correct answers, irrespective of how many questions be attempted.
Similarly for 1 correct mark will be 4.
2→8, 3→12.....50→200
So the set of all possible scores is [0, 4, 8, 12........ 200]. This is the required sample space.
