In the pre-revolutinary France, women had no political rights. They were considered as passive citizens and were forced to rely on men for everything. However, at the time of the revolution, women demanded equality for men and wanted to end male domination. There was a "March to Versailles" by the women to get the king to sign "The declaration of the Rights of the man". They participated through preparing modern ideas through societies, journals, pamphlets, etc. Thus , role of women played an important role in the French Revolution.
