Let the maximum marks be $x.$
Then, $\left(30\%\text{of}x\right)+10=\left(40\%\text{of}x\right)-15$
$\Rightarrow \frac{30}{100}x+10=\frac{40}{100}x-15\Rightarrow \frac{10}{100}x=25$
$\Rightarrow x=250$
$\therefore$ Passing marks $=\left(30\%\text{of}x\right)+10$
$=\frac{30}{100}\times 250+10=85$
