According to second condition:
$(\frac{480}{x} - 12) (x + 20) = 480 \Rightarrow 480 x + 9600 - 12 x^{2} - 240 x = 480 x \Rightarrow 12 x^{2} + 240 x - 9600 = 0 \Rightarrow x^{2} + 20 x - 800 = 0 \Rightarrow x^{2} + 40 x - 20 x - 800 = 0 \Rightarrow (x - 20) (x + 40) = 0 E i t h e r x - 20 = 0 o r x + 40 = 0 \Rightarrow x = 20 o r x = - 40$
As the number of children cannot be negative,
therefore, x = -40 is rejected.
Hence, x = 20.
